‘Fostering Creativity In Children: The 21st Century Skills’

On Friday, 27th September 2019, an inhouse workshop on “Fostering Creativity in Children” was conducted by the team teachers of Pre-Primary Department in the Phonetic lab. The objective of the workshop was to emphasize on the inevitability of 21st century skill set - Creativity, Critical Thinking, Communication and Collaboration, which each classroom should have and each educator needs to focus on in order to create successful and lifelong learners.

Creativity is one of the most important quality which should be best inculcated at a young age with a focus on innovation,self-expression, and critical analysis. 

The workshop started with an ice-breaker where the participants were asked to arrange themselves in ascending order according to their birth dates in less than two minutes.Later, they were told to form groups of 5 members each and sit accordingly on the tables. The next task was to create something unique & creative out of the material provided to them and give a suitable name to their table/group. 

The team members took turns to brief the participants about the four important skills of 21st century and a series of activities were conducted to unlock the creativity of each participant such as drawing objects and pictures with the help of palm and fingers. The ideas and activities like finding hidden numbers to enhance the critical thinking skills, onthe spot story narration with the help of clay and puppets to boost the communication skills and jumping on the lines to enhance collaboration and physical development were shared by the resource persons to make teaching effective and classrooms fun filled. 

The workshop was concluded with a beautiful story narratedby our Headmistress Ma’am, Ms. Anju Gupta on team building and collaboration. 

This interactive workshop provided teachers with a wealth of creative ideas that will further empower them to transform and enhance their classroom teachings by incorporating splash of creativity.
