Virtual PTM

Our First Pre-Primary Virtual P.T.M
Parent-Teacher Meetings are a great way for parents and teachers to bond and collaborate with the whole purpose of discussing and enhancing the developmental progress of children. With more and more of our daily communication happening digitally, the PTM also took a leap and embraced the virtual platform.
Pre-Primary Department of Ahlcon International School, was able to set another benchmark on Friday, 22nd May 2020 when it ventured out to its First Virtual P.T.M. The experience of using virtual platform to conduct meeting was distinctive. Parents were all praises for the commendable work teachers have done and the great initiative taken by school in achieving yet another milestone. The resourcefulness with which the school came forward to help and facilitate students who need support during this stressful time was appreciated by their parents. The way teachers guided and connected with these parents through phone calls and whatsapp messages as few of them had no access to devices to attend the virtual classes was praiseworthy.
Virtual PTM helped stakeholders connect virtually with the teachers to engage in a transparent and open discussion for little Ahlconites better future. It reminded us of days when our school building would see the liveliness and the hustle bustle in the corridors. Similar situation with a twist was witnessed which flabbergasted us when we had parents patiently waiting in the lobby of a virtual meeting room for their turns to come. At Ahlcon, we firmly believe that when parents and teachers work as partners, children do better in every walk of life. We are highly appreciative of the support parents have showered on us at this critical point which will certainly provide the child with a springboard that will make the move to elementary school at a later stage, a more tranquil transition.
Headmistress, Ms. Anju Gupta and Section Coordinator, Ms. Pooja Shandilya visited each meeting room to interact and listen to parentsviews about virtual classes. They appreciated the parents for all the efforts and guided them to continue working towards the holistic development of their childrenThey evenassured parents of all the support they need by staying connected as one family and comforted them that together we will sail through this unprecedented journey.

Assessment Report

To identify and plan teaching strategies for individual children and to documentheir progress over time, the Pre-Primary Department of Ahlcon International School conducted their first Online Monthly Assessments for its Nursery and Prep students. The school is leaving no stone unturned in making virtual learning fun-filled and interactive for its students. Teachers planned innovative activities and provided children with range of experiences that further cultivates  their curiosity and increases their desire to learn more. Pre-Primary teachers very well understand that every child is different and so are their needs. ‘One Size Fits All’ does not work in Ahlcon. Therefore, it became important for teachers to help and teach each Ahlconite specific to their learning style and academic needs. For this, assessments were planned which also helped the parents understand their child’s progress, strengths and challenges, and further plan activities that extend learning and development at home.
These assessments were conducted on virtual platform for three consecutive days on a one to one basis where children were given individual time slotsTeachers elicited questions on different parameters like General Awareness,Reading, Writing, Speaking and Listening skills, Phonemic Awareness, Spatial Perception, Logical Reasoning and Awareness of Pre-Number Concepts. It was amazing to see children answer these questions very confidently and even the shy ones felt comfortable and answered assertively.
These assessments acted as building blocksand helped to guide the educators and parents in collaborating on the strategies to support their children.
