International Yoga Day and Father’s Day
“Yoga is a light, which once lit will never dim. The better your practice, the brighter your flame”
On Sunday, 21 June 2020, the little Ahlconitescelebrated, the 6th “International Yoga Day” throughvirtual platform with great enthusiasm and vigour.Keeping into account the social distancing measures, the theme set by United Nations for this year Yoga Day was “Yoga at home, Yoga with family”. At a challenging time like the coronavirus pandemic, when a constant restricted human contact has taken a toll on our mind and body, it became imperative to embrace the ancient, powerful and healing effects of yoga. India’s traditional system of Yoga has been established as a means to boost immunity, improve overall health and wellbeing. With this profound thought and determination to infuse the important of staying fit, Ahlcon International School organised online Yoga sessions for its Pre-Primary students. We at Ahlcon, understand the responsibility of facilitating children with strong sense of self along withsense of healthy body and mind so that they know where they belong in this world and can contribute their bit in making this world a better place to live. The yoga sessions that were held regularly during our virtual classes has helped children act and behave with mindfulness, compassion and find inner peace. Children along with their family members participated wholeheartedly in the event and shared their yoga day glimpses through social media and padlet. Teachers encouraged children to do age appropriate Asanas and Surya Namaskar through virtual Bitmoji classroom which included links for yoga sessions. The aim was to motivate them to make yoga a part of their daily routine.
The day also saw the festivities of Father’s Day. Father’s day is a day of appreciating fatherhood and the parental bond. To tribute this beautiful bond of love and care, our tiny cherubs celebrated the day with huge passion and merriment. Children expressed their love and feelings for their fathers and grandfathers throughvarious activities. They created beautiful cards, handcrafted gifts and posters, flaunted their culinary skills by channelling their inner chef. They playedgames, danced and even interviewed their fathers and grandfathers to know about their likes and dislikes. A Padlet wall was also created by the teachers wherechildren shared candid moments expressing their love for their fathers/grandfathers.
It was a moment of affection and love, where all the children were seen putting in best of their efforts to make this day special for their fathers.
