SAFETY AND SECURITY COMMITTEE
Meeting with parent representatives of Van users
On 20th July, 2019, a meeting with parents of van users was organized in the school premises.
The agenda of the meeting was to discuss the safety and security of the students travelling by van and to share our concerns with all van users. The meeting began at 8.30 am.
As an icebreaker, A.H.M Ms. Sunita Rajiv asked the parents about the names of van drivers and car no.s from the present parents. Most of them did not know the car no. and the proper name of the van driver. In the same vein, she highlighted the complacency on the part of the parents regarding the safety of their child. She alarmed parents of the all the risk factors that were prevailing because of the negligence of drivers and the parents themselves. A document listing all the concerns of the school for the safety of van users had already been sent to the parents. All the points were read out one by one and discussed.
Parents were advised to ensure of the following: police verification and complete details of the drivers, making sure that the drivers are not in habit of smoking or chewing tobacco in presence of children and do not use abusive language in front of children. Also to ensure that the drivers avoid over speeding and violation of traffic rules especially when carrying children with them.
AHM insisted on developing a network of Van user parents and taking turns to follow/supervise the road behaviour of van drivers.
The headmistress, Ms. Anju Gupta also took a stock of the proceedings and suggested parents to insist the van drivers to install GPS system in their vehicles and also share their live locations while carrying the children.Initiating WhatsApp group of parents availing same route was also suggested.
Parents were well informed about the care they need to take while they opt for sending their child in a van.
