Nature Walk

We went for nature walk with our teachers. Our teacher explained us about different concept like tall plant and short plant, thick trunk and thin trunk of the plant, light feather and hard stone etc. She also told the names of different trees like Ashoka tree, Neem tree, Tulsi plant, Rose plant Palm tree etc. After coming back we did leaf printing to make Mother’s Day Card.

Meal Time

We enjoy our meal time in school. We get delicious food. We all learn how to eat properly using spoons. Our teachers always tell us to spread our mat and wear our apron before we have our meal. We love our meal time with our friends.

Pool Time

Pool time is the best period of our Time Table. We love going in the splash pool with our teachers. We always wait eagerly for this period.

Show and Tell

Our teachers encourage us to speak few lines on our favourite toy or object. Everyday our friends speak on something like doll, car, brush, a fruit etc. It helps to enhance our language skills.

Slate

Our Ma’am’s let us use slate and chalk everyday. We are allowed to do anything on it. Sometimes we write English and Hindi alphabet, sometime we write numbers, sometimes we do pattern completion and also we do free hand drawing on the slate. We love to use chalk and slate in our free time.

Buttoning a Shirt

Our teachers have started teaching us, how to button our shirts. She gives us shirts & we try to button up the shirts. This will help us to become independent.

Phonics Activity

Our teachers taught us how to blend the letters through flashcards and then we were able to read words like bat, cat, mat, sat etc.

Workshop on Educational Puppetry

Workshop on Educational Puppetry

Puppets are always a good source/ teaching aid to inculcate values 

in children. Hence a workshop on educational puppetry was 

conducted on 7th February 2015 by Ms. Divya Narula and Ms. 

Shikha Kwatra. (Pre-primary teachers). The workshop 

was attended 

by pre- primary teachers, A.H.M.and H.M. and special guest our 

Principal sir.

The workshop was about how to make puppets using discarded 

material like gloves, paper plates, wool, balls, leftover cloth, plastic 

bottles/ glasses etc. and use them to teach different concepts of 

language, numeracy and moral values.

There were some group activities in which teachers were 

encouraged to make puppets using discarded material. Short skits 

and puppet shows were conducted using the same puppets to teach 

different concepts like opposites, numbers and sounds etc. the 

participants displayed great enthusiasm and zeal in creating their 

own puppet on the spot. Their co-operation and creativity amazed 

one and all.

Phonetic lab
Pallavi Ma'am narrated a story and we were very happy to use the headphones. The story helped us to enhance our listening skill and our concentration.

Lunch time

Lunch  time is the time for us to learn table manners and appreciate the blessing of good food made available to us.

Thank you card activity

We made a  beautiful thank you card for our  didi's. We realized their importance in our life since they are always on their toes for us.

Show and tell

We are learning to face the audience with confidence. Public speaking is the skill that we will soon master :)

Drawing on slates

Anju ma'am gives us slates regularly so that we can express ourselves freely.

Spindle box

Deepti ma'am helped us to work on spindle box during our maths lab period. We enjoyed this activity.

Personal Grooming and etiquettes

A workshop on personal grooming and etiquettes as conducted on 2nd May under the able guidance of Headmistress Ma'am Ms. Anju Gupta and Asst. Headmistress Ms. Sunita Rajiv. Resource persons Ms. Kakoli, Ms. Vinita, Ms. A. Sangita and Ms. Pooja started the presentation with a game and later talked about why and how we need to grow and upgrade ourselves in this fast changing world. 

Ms. Kakoli and Ms. Pooja talked about the importance of verbal and non-verbal communication. Ms. A. Sangita laid stress on personal grooming - what is acceptable and what is not acceptable in the work place. She also talked about office and email etiquettes.

The teachers took back with them some simple points to remember in their everyday upkeep, which we generally tend to forget as we start getting complacent in our workplace.

Taking an online course is highly rewarding but it can always be hard work. Some of the teachers from the Preprimary department opted for an online course from the British Council called 'CiPelt' i.e. Certificate in Primary English Language Teaching by which they were motivated to have excellent time management skills. With the help of this course, the teachers

• Studied the course structure and components
• investigated their own teaching beliefs
• began to assess their own creativity
• began thinking about and collecting recycled materials for resources

The duration of the course was 4 months and all the teachers successfully completed it.

We, the students of Prep B conducted our first assembly in the school auditorium. We loved presenting a rhyme on body parts and we are sure that all our friends from other sections must have enjoyed it. Stuti of our class narrated a story which was followed by Show and Tell.

Phonics Workshop

Workshop on Phonics

Ahlcon International School follows the ethos of continuous professional development of its teachers. Hence, various workshops are conducted exclusively for the teachers.

A workshop ‘Phonics – Accelerating the Children’ conducted on the 18^th of April’15 by Ms. Anju Mehta, Founder & President of EHI (Education and Health International). The workshop was attended by 25 teachers of the pre-primary department, 5 teachers teaching class 1 from primary department and Ms. Sunita Rajiv, AHM Pre-primary Dept.

The workshop was about how to teach phonics to children of the pre-primary and primary section students. It was a highly interactive workshop where the teachers participated with great enthusiasm. There were some group activities which were more like experimental ideas on how to teach phonics in a class with the help of different games and techniques.

Ms. Anju gave us an idea of how to go about teaching sounds at the initial stage. She provided a list of alphabets, diagraphs and diphthongs, that when taught in the specified sequence, could enhance the phonetic skills of children gradually.

She also gave a list of tricky words that do not follow the rules of phonics to be mastered by using Jolly Phonics videos or oral practice. The teachers pitched in with different ideas and activities that can be used in teaching and were also enlightened to great measures by the end of the workshop. As the workshop concluded, the teachers were presented with certificates by Ms. Anju Mehta.
