Mother’s Day Celebration Report

“There is nothing as powerful as mother’s love, and nothing as healing as a child’s soul.”

The day that recognizes the contributions of a mother was celebrated with high spirits and happiness by the tiny cherubs of Ahlcon International School on Friday, 8thMay’2020. Mothers are the most important individuals of our life and thus Mother’s Day is celebrated across the nations worldwidewith a lot of zeal and enthusiasm in the month of May every year.

To acknowledge the efforts, show respect and appreciation towards their mothers and grandmothers, the enthusiastic Nursery and Prep children celebrated the occasion by fervently getting involved into various activities. Keeping the strong bonding and emotion in mind, children made beautiful handmade cards for their moms & grandmoms. The outcome of their efforts was so spectacular that each card looked special and different in its own way. They also pampered their moms and grandmoms by preparing exquisite crowns and sashes for them. It was a pleasure watching the super excited mommies wear these handcrafted sashes and crowns and ramp walk with their dynamic kiddos. Children made earnest efforts in making this day special, as they prepared rainbow sandwiches for them. Beautiful collages and video clippings were also made and shared by the teachers to add the extra spark and make this day memorable for them.Overall, it was an unforgettable occasion for all the mothers and grandmothers as it left a positive mark in their innocent hearts.

Buddha Purnima

To honour the birth and enlightenment of Gautam Buddha, Pre-Primary students of Ahlcon International School celebrated ‘Buddha Purnima’ with utmost veneration and sanctity on Thursday, 7th May 2020 through a virtual pedestal.

Children were explained that Lord Buddha was born on a full moon day of the Vaishakha month as per the Hindu Calendar and this day is also known as Buddha Jayanti. They were shown a video that gave them the glimpse of the life of Prince Siddhartha who chose the path of wisdom and enlightenment over worldly desires. Children felt motivated to follow and practice the preaching of Lord Buddha in their life. Some of thechildren dressed up as ‘Buddha’ and even chanted the famous - 'Buddham Sharanam Gacchami" mantra while others spoke confidently about the significance of the day. It was heartening to see how the little cherubs of Pre-Primary exhibited their drawing skills and made thebeautiful portraits of Buddha come alive.

International Labour Day and Laughter Day

International Labour Day & Laughter Day

To celebrate the meticulous efforts of the labour force and express gratitude towards COVID-19 warriors, Pre-Primary Department of Ahlcon International School celebrated International Labour Day on Friday, 1st May 2020 through their virtual session. The class teachers made children aware of the importance of labourers in our society and how do they contribute in our day to day life. At Ahlcon, we endeavour to inculcate values like compassion, kindness and benevolence in our children.

Series of activities like poster making, enactment bythe children were conducted to acknowledge and appreciate the hardships of our Corona warriors who have been working beyond the call of duty in the fight against the disease. Students of Nursery & Prepprepared beautiful handmade cards to express solidarity towards these heroes for their dedication and commitment during this crucial time of pandemic. Few of them dressed up as Corona warriors and spoke confidently about this day. They also distributed food items to express their gratitude for their efforts.

The day was then followed by the festivity of World Laughter Day which is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year. Children were elucidated that laughter is a positive manifestation for world peace and the purpose of celebrating this day is to build global consciousness of brotherhood and friendship through laughter. Beautiful headgears of laughter emoji’s and laughter yoga was performed by all the students of Nursery & Prep with theirfamilies. Children in their clown get up narrated comical stories to their friends. Various fun activities like laugh according to the given number on the card was also conducted for children. It was heartening to see how these festivities brought joy to them and their families sending out positive vibrations all around.

Earth Day Report

The 50th Anniversary of Earth Day was unforeseen to be a worldwide celebration from home. As most parts of the world remain under lockdown, the Earth Day had gone digital to keep up the momentum. Under social distancing &restrictions around the world to fight the spread of Coronavirus, our little Ahlconites were reminded by their Class Teachers in their online Web Class on Wednesday, 22nd April 2020, to take care of our planet and take action on ‘Earth Day’.

On this day, a range of creative activities like cleaning up litter, planting more trees, reducing plastic dependency, conserving water or recycling and repurposing were organized with a view to sensitize children about the conservation of natural resources, motivating them to do their bit towards making our mother planet more beautiful. The students of both Nursery and Prep were encouraged to celebrate ‘Earth Day’ by appreciating and respecting the environment. With the objective of protecting our mother Earth and continuing with the spirit to spread awareness, the students of Nursery & Prep created posters, head gears, watered plants, sowed seeds of hope, made gratitude cards with their teachers & parents guidance which were all soul stirring and a visual treat.

They engraved beautiful slogans and spoke confidently on why celebrating this day has larger significance. The event rekindled emotive concerns and prompted the young change makers to save, love and respect Mother Nature with all their heart and soul and make this world a better, healthier place to live in.

Ambedkar Jayanti and Vaisakhi Celebration

Dr. Ambedkar was a man of great virtues. Popularly known as Babasaheb, he was a man of social substance who became India’s first ever independent law minister and principal architect of the Indian Constitution. To pay tribute to his contributions and commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr. B.R Ambedkar, the students of Nursery and Prep celebrated Ambedkar Jayanti by seeking the blessings of the Almighty on Monday, 13th April, 2020. As schools were closed during lockdown, little Ahlconites were informed about the teachings of Dr. B.R Ambedkar and his contribution to the Constitution of India through structured conversation and a short video. Students were apprised about the reason why this day is celebrated as Ambedkar Jayanti to honour his contribution and service to the country.

Post the celebrations of Ambedkar Jayanti, Vaisakhi was also celebrated with equal fervour and emotion. Children were briefed that Vaisakhi is the most significant harvest festival of North India particularly Punjab. It was on this day, that Guru Gobind Singh founded Khalsa Panth, giving a unique identity to Sikhs. He gave amrit to his Panj Pyaras and established that all human beings are equal. Teachers also made students aware that on this joyful day, the farmers offer their prayers in abundance for a bountiful harvest of the Rabi crop.

Parents made their children wear Salwar suits and Kurta Pajama which was a treat to the eyes. They were made aware of the importance of this festival by showcasing the Punjabi culture through a short video. Children were also explained that farmers are the people who grow crops for us and wait for the entire one year for their crops to harvest. So we should make sure that we don’t waste food. A puppet show was also carried to elucidate the topic. This was followed by making the tiny tots dance to the tune of dhol and do Bhangra.
